Description

The Sara Classic is the machine we put in the kitchen of an office of 30 to 40 people. Fill its 3-litre tank once and it lasts all day; its stainless steel body handles continuous use without asking for anything in return.

It's a single-group machine for 44 mm ESE pods, made and assembled in Italy from quality materials (brass, steel). No grinder, no grounds, no technician: pop in the pod, lower the lever and brew. It draws 500 W, far less than a café machine, and has a safety thermostat.

It's the “Classic” version of the Sara range: coffee, and nothing else. If you want a milk steam wand, there's the Sara Vapore (to order).

Why this machine

  • 3 L tank: one fill a day for 30-40 people.
  • Stainless steel and a large-capacity drip tray.
  • 500 W: very low consumption for continuous use.
  • Made in Italy; spare parts available; 24-month warranty.

FAQs

Does it make two coffees at once?
No. It's a one-group, one-pod machine: one coffee at a time, in about 25-30 seconds.

How many people is it for?
3 litres of water gives you about 60-70 espressos without refilling: an office of 30-40 people gets through the morning on one fill.

Does it have a steam wand?
The Classic doesn't. The Sara Vapore does, with a steam wand for milk.

Does more bar mean better coffee?
No. The bar figure manufacturers quote (15, 19…) is the pump's rated pressure; espresso is extracted at around 9 bar in every home machine. The number doesn't tell you which one makes better coffee: what changes the cup is the coffee, the grind and the temperature.

Brewing and storage

Whole bean coffee. Once opened, keep it in an airtight container, away from light, heat and moisture. Not in the fridge. Grind just before brewing and finish it within about 4 weeks: after that it is still coffee, just not the same coffee.

ESE pods. One pod per espresso. It goes straight into the portafilter as it is: no opening, no tamping. Keep them in their box, somewhere cool and dry.

Coffee machines. Follow the manufacturer's manual. Use low-mineral water, clean the portafilter and drip tray after each use and descale regularly. A clean machine makes better coffee. Simple as that.
